-- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong joined talks with Indonesian President Joko Widodo in Jakarta on Wednesday, as part of the former’s visit to Indonesia from August 22 to 24.

-- Vietnam and Turkey have pledged to reach US$4 billion in bilateral trade by 2020 during the official visit to Vietnam of Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim from August 22 to 24.

-- Under the influence of Typhoon Hato, heavy downpours, potential landslides and flash floods are expected to hit northern provinces on Thursday.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has ordered the Department of Natural Resources and Environment to establish a map that indicates certain locations where the exploitation of underground water is banned. The measure is aimed at minimizing health issues and subsidence brought about by the use of the water resources.
