Vietnam to alternate between rainy spells and hot periods this week

Monday, July 25, 2016, 11:43 GMT+7

Alternate hot and rainy spells are anticipated to be the pattern for Vietnam’s weather this week, according to a local meteorologist.

Northern areas are expected to see rainy evenings and sunny days in the first few days of the week, with temperatures ranging between 34 and 37 degrees Celsius, Le Thi Xuan Lan, a Ho Chi Minh City-based weather specialist has forecast.

By the end of the week, extreme heat is set to impact the north, she warned.

Although less intense, high heat will still bake provinces and cities in the central region, with highs between 35 and 37 degrees Celsius from 11:00 am to 4:00 pm, followed by rain squalls in the evening, the weather expert said.

The south and the Central Highlands will continue to be dampened by evening squalls and overnight showers, while downpours and high winds are expected to ravage some locations, with overnight haze forecast, Lan predicted.

During rainy spells, the south and Central Highlands will experience milder weather with temperatures steady at around 25-34 degrees Celsius, she said, with an 80-90 percent chance of moisture over the period, and weather patterns alternating between bright days and wet nights from midweek to this weekend.
