2nd “Savour Vietnam” Video Contest - Rules & Regulations

On the occasion of the 42th anniversary of Saigontourist (August 1, 1975 – August 1, 2017) and with the aim of honoring the beauty of Vietnamese culture, tradition, people and nature, promoting Vietnam’s hospitality industry as well as continuing with the success of the first edition of "Savour Vietnam" in 2014, Saigontourist and Tuoi Tre Newspaper launch the video clip contest ‘Savour Vietnam’ in 2017.

 

Content:

-    Making videos to describe the beautiful diversity of Vietnamese tradition, culture, customs and nature, and the friendliness and hospitality of the Vietnamese people.

 

Eligibility:

-     The contest is open to Vietnamese citizens and foreigners of all ages and professional backgrounds.

 

Duration:

       -     From August 15, 2017 to March 31, 2018

 

Submission of entries:

- Only high-resolution videos (HD or Full HD) of no longer than 3 minutes are accepted.

- Videos can be filmed with cellphones, digital cameras, camcorders or drones. Those filmed with cellphones must be in horizontal orientation.

- Entries must be submitted with the script for accompanying narratives or voice-overs (if any). Entries with narratives or voice-overs are preferred.

- Entries can belong to one entrant or a team of entrants. Teams of entrants must state the name and the contact detail of the team leader in the registration form downloadable at http://bansacviet.tuoitre.vn. The organizers will contact the team leader for further information or for presentation of the prize.

- Music, songs or materials used in the video must not infringe upon international and Vietnamese copyright laws.

- Submitted videos must include:

+ An essay of no longer than 300 words detailing the title of the entry, its filming location(s) and date, and the story it tells.

+ An MS Word document of the script for narratives or voice-overs used in the video.

+ A list of all the music and songs used in the video. If the music or song is royalty-free, please include link(s) to the website(s) from which they are downloaded. A copy of evidence of payment or permission of usage must be included if the music or songs are copyrighted.

+ If the video includes footage from other sources, the timeframe of that said footage appearing in the video must be stated (from minute:second to minute:second). A copy of evidence of payment or permission of usage of the footage must be included.

- The entrant takes legal responsibility for the authenticity of the content, the story of the video and the fee of the usage for any copyrighted footage, songs, music.

- Videos that have won prizes in prior contests, posted on social media or online forums, or published or submitted to other contests are not eligible.

- Each entrant or team of entrants can submit an unlimited number of entries.

- The video’s audio must be clear and audible. English narratives or voice-overs (if any) must be spoken in the British/American or Australian English accent. An MS Word file (for online submissions) or hard copy (for mail submissions) of the script must be attached.

- The story of the video must be truthful and not infringe upon Vietnamese laws and regulations or express the entrant’s subjective view on issues concerning race, religion, customs and culture.

- Videos with appearance(s) of any product or logo of any company, corporation or group are not eligible.

- Entrants can register and submit their entries online at http://bansacviet.tuoitre.vnor email their submission to the organizers at bansacviet@tuoitre.com.vn with a filled-out registration form downloadable at http://bansacviet.tuoitre.vn. Entries without a filled-out registration form are not eligible, and will be disqualified without prior notice.

Please note that all submissions must include a filled-out registration form.

 

Prizes:

 

02 Quarterly prizes: VND7 million in cash each from Saigontourist

- The first quarterly prize is awarded to the best entry among those submitted from August 15, 2017 through November 30, 2017.

- The second quarterly prize is awarded to the best entry among those submitted from December 1, 2017 through March 31, 2018.

Tuoi Tre will publish the quarterly prize-winning entry on Tuoi Tre TV and inform the winner.

 

2. Final prizes: in cash by Saigontourist and in kind from Saigontourist Travel Service         

·  01 first prize : VND40 million + a travel voucher valued at VND24 million

· 02 second prizes: VND25 million + a travel voucher valued at VND12 million (each)

·  03 third prizes:  VND15 million + a travel voucher valued at VND6 million (each)

·  04 consolation prizes:  VND10 million (each)

 

        Prize Presentation: scheduled for June 2018 in Ho Chi Minh City

- Saigontourist provides free accommodation for two nights for winners that live outside of Ho Chi Minh City to attend the awards ceremony. Hotel rooms are picked and booked by Saigontourist.

- Two winners of the same sex are arranged into a twin room. The remaining odd winner, if any, will be booked into a single room.

      Rules and regulations:

Entries submitted by organizers, members of the panel of judges, employees of Saigontourist’s headquarters and Tuoi Tre Newspaper are accepted but will not be eligible for any prize.

-

By entering the video contest, entrants agree to be bound by these rules and regulations.

-

Early submissions will have better chances of winning among entries that receive the same score when the panel of judges considers the winner for quarterly and final prizes.

-

The organizers reserve the right to reproduce any entry in print, broadcast and/or electronic media for advertising campaigns related to the contest at any time without the entrants’ permission and without any fee payment.

-

The organizers reserve the right to reproduce prize-winning entries in print, broadcast and/or electronic media for commercial purposes during or after the contest at any time without the winners’ permission and without any fee payment. The organizers do not hold the right to sell the entries to a third party or publish any materials in which the entries are included for commercial purposes.

-

Entrants take full legal responsibility for the content of their entries and any materials (music, photos or events) used in their video. The organizers do not take responsibility for any copyright dispute concerning the content of the entries.

-

Prize winners who cannot take part in the prize presentation ceremony can nominate someone as a proxy and must provide the organizers with the official papers as stated in Vietnamese laws prior to the commencement of the ceremony.

- Vietnamese prize winners who would like the prize to be transferred (in cash) and mailed (in kind), please contact Saigontourist Holding Company regarding procedures for receiving prizes (Tel: 028.38225887, ext: 88).

- The prizes (in cash and in kind) of foreign prize winners or Vietnamese prize winners who are not living in Vietnam will be given to his/her representative in Vietnam only.

-

Prizes in cash will be subject to tax as stated in the law before being handed or transferred to the prize-winners.

-

Prizes in kind cannot be exchanged in whole or in part for cash.

-

Prize winners living outside of Ho Chi Minh City must confirm with the organizers whether they can attend the prize presentation ceremony for the reservation of accommodation. If the prize winner appears without prior confirmation, the organizers can only locate them in a hotel if there are rooms in the same type available. If the prize winner would like to upgrade their room or relocate to another hotel, they will be responsible for all arising fees and costs.

-

The prize winner must confirm their attendance at the prize presentation. If the prize winner has not confirmed their attendance, prizes in cash will be transferred to the appointed bank account and prizes in kind (if any) will be mailed to their submitted mailing address. The organizers bear no liability for any loss or damage to the prizes in kind during the mailing.

-

When a team of entrants submit their clip, they also agree with the appointed team leader as declared in the registration form. The team leader will be the only team member to be contacted by the organizers, receive the prizes (if any) and be sponsored a two-night stay in a hotel booked by the organizers.

-

If the appointed team leader who lives outside of Ho Chi Minh City can neither attend the prize presentation nor officially appoint another member as the prize taker, the prize in cash will be transferred to the appointed bank account and prizes in kind (if any) will be mailed to his/her submitted mailing address. The organizers bear no liability for any loss or damage to the prizes in kind during the mailing.

-

The organizers take no liability for any disputes among members of prize-winning teams related to prize allocation or copyright. Teams with such disputes will not be eligible for the prizes and the prizes will be transferred to the next highest-scoring entry. 

-

The videos which will be awarded/printed in the photo book will be selected by the judging panel and their decision is final. No correspondence pertaining to the selection process and decision will be entertained.

-

Entries that do not abide by Vietnamese tradition, customs and laws, or violate the rules & regulations of the contest will be disqualified without prior notice.

-

The judging panel reserves the right not to award the prize if the entry neither meets the requirements stated in this document or is involved in any copyright infringement.

-

The organizers reserve the right to obtain full-detailed original files of the winning videos which will be awarded or have been chosen for the photo book. If the participant fails to meet the requirement, the award will be transferred to the next highest-scoring entry.

-

If the organizers need to edit a clip so that it is eligible to promote Vietnam’s tourism, the entrant(s) agree to all the adaptations the organizers will do to the clip. Entrant(s) agree to fully cooperate to complete the clip. All fees or costs for editing the clip, if any, will be paid by the organizers.

-

The organizers shall not be held liable for any loss, damage, theft or destruction of the clips on their way to the organizers.

-

The organizers reserve the right not to send back or delete submitted entries after the contest is over.

-

The organizers reserve the right to make final decisions on any issues which have not been stated in the rules and regulations.
