-- Two vessels of the Indian naval force, the INS Satpura and INS Kadmatt, on Saturday arrived in the northern Vietnamese city of Hai Phong for a visit as part of the 45th anniversary of diplomatic ties between the two nations.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has tasked the municipal Department of Transport with setting up a board to coordinate operations of the city’s seaport system in a bid to alleviate traffic congestion around Cat Lai Port.

-- A low-pressure area forming in the eastern part of the East Vietnam Sea on Saturday strengthened into a tropical depression, bringing rain to seas and land in the Central Highlands and the southern region on Sunday (September 24), according to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting.

-- SAR 412, the search and rescue team under the Da Nang Maritime Rescue Coordination Center in central Vietnam, rescued three fishermen who were in critical condition due to asphyxiation on Saturday.  

-- The Ho Chi Minh City People’s Committee has ordered drastic measures be adopted to penalize shops illegally offering gambling games.

-- Many unsuspecting clients have fallen prey to misleading contracts to own luxury holidays offered by tour operators.

-- The Tourism Department and competent agencies in the north-central province of Quang Binh have conducted a reconnaissance trip to three new caves nestled inside the UNESCO-recognized Phong Nha-Ke Bang National Park, also home to Son Doong – the world’s largest cave – before seeking permission to open new tours to the wonders from the provincial People’s Committee.

-- Team Vietnam secured the fourth spot at the 2017 ASEAN Para Games, which wrapped up on Saturday in Malaysia, with its athletes nabbing 40 golds, 61 silvers and 60 bronzes.
