Vietnam has quite a successful journey at the 2017 Southeast Asian (SEA) Games, which concluded in Malaysia on Wednesday, highlighted by the extraordinary performance of the track-and-field team, yet marred by failures from many title hopefuls.

Team Vietnam bagged a total of 58 gold medals in the event, meeting its target of finishing third in the region’s biggest sporting competition.

The track-and-field team secured 17 gold medals in total, followed by the swimming squad, 10 golds.

“The Vietnamese track-and-field athletes have had many emotional performances at the event,” Team Vietnam leader Tran Duc Phan said at a press conference on Thursday.

However, there are some disappointments, such as the men’s football team failing again in their bid to win their first-ever SEA Games title, or Olympic gold medalist Hoang Xuan Vinh leaving the event with no gold in shooting.

Below are some of the best moments of the Vietnamese athletes, as well as moments they wish to forget, at the 2017 SEA Games.
