Over 1,000 making Vietnam national anthem music video

More than 1,000 people across Vietnam, including hundreds of artists, have joined hands to make a music video of the national anthem with a spirit toward the country’s seas and islands.

The project has been launched by journalist Ngo Ba Luc and singers Minh Quan and Ngoc Anh. The clip will be filmed at many places across the country and will be released as soon as it is completed.

It is being produced to keep spirits high since China positioned an oil rig on May 1 in Vietnamese waters of the East Vietnam Sea, and dispatched ships and aircraft to ram, intimidate, and fire water cannons at Vietnam’s vessels sent to persuade the Chinese side to leave the area.

The first scenes of the video were shot at Hoan Kiem Bridge in Hanoi on May 17 with the participation of many artists and models.

“I hope that artists join together to sing the national anthem in order to light up the country’s solidarity as well as to express Vietnamese people’s love of peace and their country,” singer Minh Quan expressed.

Moreover, musician Phuong Uyen has also composed a song titled “Nhung Trai Tim Vietnam” (The Vietnamese Hearts).

“Something encouraged me to compose the song and I finished it in one night,” Phuong Uyen said.

Nearly 100 singers including famous names in local showbiz like Quang Linh, Hong Nhung, Dam Vinh Hung, Phuong Thanh, Cam Ly, Thanh Thao, Ho Quynh Huong, Ho Ngoc Ha, Ha Anh Tuan, Nguyen Vu, Vy Oanh, Thuy Tien, Minh Hang, Dong Nhi, Noo Phuoc Thinh, and Uyen Linh have contributed to the making of the song’s music video which is scheduled to be broadcast on channels across the country.

Artists have also expressed their love of their country through donation activities. On May 19, the organizing board of the 2014 Miss Vietnam Ocean pageant announced they were going to donate around VND400 million (US$18,868) raised from the contest’s sideline events to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper’s “Chung Suc Bao Ve Chu Quyen Bien Dong” (Joining Hands to Protect Vietnam's Sovereignty over the East Sea) fund-raising program.

Singer Phi Nhung also delivered donations at the releasing ceremony of her latest album “Thuong Lam Minh Oi!” on May 20 to the newspaper’s program while singers Dam Vinh Hung and My Tam have recently called for their fans to donate to support soldiers who are on duty to protect the Southeast Asian nation's seas and islands.
