Vietnam and China have agreed to effectively promote their cooperation mechanisms and boost the two nations’ relationship, according to the Vietnam News Agency.

General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong welcomed Zhang Dejiang, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Chinese National People’s Congress, in Hanoi on Wednesday morning, as part of the latter’s visit to Vietnam from November 8 to 11.

Hanoi will always focus on the enhancement of its friendly relationship and comprehensive strategic partnership with Beijing, General Secretary Trong stated, calling on both parties to implement the common perceptions reached between their leaders.

The two countries should maintain regular high-level meetings and discussions while cementing their cooperation mechanisms and managing their differences in accordance with international law in order to preserve peace and stability, the Vietnamese Party chief continued.

He considered that the visit would help strengthen political trust, friendship, and cooperation between the two countries for years to come.

Speaking to his host, Chairman Zhang affirmed that the Chinese Party and government will always develop fine relations with Vietnam.

The Chinese leader expressed his wish that the two sides will increase their political trust, share experience, connect development strategies, and further promote economic cooperation to fortify the development of the China-Vietnam friendship and comprehensive strategic cooperative partnership.

The visiting official also joined talks with Vietnamese State President Tran Dang Quang and Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc in Hanoi on the same day, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

In a relevant development, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed that President Quang was scheduled to visit Cuba from November 15 to 17 following an invitation from the President of the Cuban Council of State and Council of Ministers Raul Castro.

President Quang will also pay a visit to Peru from November 17 and 20 for the 24th High-level Week of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Forum in Lima.
