Politics:

-- Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang will pay a 6-day State visits to Hungary and the Kingdom of Denmark starting today at the invitations of Hungarian President Ader Janos and Danish Queen Margrethe II. President Sang will divide his time at both countries equally during the visit aiming at strengthening friendship and multifaceted cooperation with the two European countries while raising Vietnam’s position and prestige in Europe and the world.  

Society:

-- A fire has swept through Hai Duong trade center in the northern province of Hai Duong early this morning, burning down 530 stalls on three floors. There were no immediate reports of human casualties or property damage.

-- Although the number of certified new plant varieties every year has increased, many have not been put into large-scale production, according to the Vietnam Academy of Agricultural Science (VAAS). Among them was 161 new plant varieties, mostly rice strains, were certified by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development (MARD) in 2011 and 2012.

-- Educational departments and local authorities has been urged by the Ministry of Education and Training to quickly re-examine the facilities standards at all private pre-schools to assure the safety of children, said Nguyen Ba Minh, the head of the ministry's Preschool Education Department, adding that any schools found lacking equipment to secure children's safety would be shut down

Business:

-- Local car sales in August rose 13.6 percent from a year earlier, marking the fifth consecutive month the sales volume surpassing the sales of the same periods in 2012. Sales between January and August increased about 20 percent over the same period last year to 58,576 vehicles, according to Vietnam Automobile Manufacturers' Association (VAMA).

-- Cao Thi Thanh Huyen’s business project named “Financial products for children” was among the 35 selected ideas, out of 1,100 submitted projects, to take part in the GESS competition in Munich this year.

-- Vietnam will host the 28th Asian Advertising Congress (AdAsia 2013) for the first time at the National Convention Center in Hanoi next month. AdAsia 2013, themed "Re-engineer Advertising”, will be a great opportunity to promote Vietnam 's image and expand co-operation in trade, investment and tourism with Asian countries and the world, said Dinh Quang Ngu, President of the Vietnam Advertising Association (VAA).

-- Vietnam Television (VTV) and VNPT Global Joint Stock Co have reached an agreement to enable Vietnamese viewers worldwide to watch domestic television channels, the first copyrighted Vietnamese TV channel package, including channels on general news, movies, financial and economic information, entertainment, health and travel, to be distributed to Vietnamese communities worldwide.

Lifestyle:

-- Tuoi Tre News has captured the diversity of Asian nations via their traditional costumes and cultures at International Travel Expo 2013 (ITE 2013), a three-day annual tourism event jointly organized by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism and the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism of Ho Chi Minh City at Saigon Exhibition and Convention Center (SECC). 

-- The “Vietnam Days in Turin” cultural program has been officially kicked off in the Italian city of Turin with an exhibition themed “Vietnamese cultural space” showcasing images of Hanoi and central Hoi An city alongside historical photographs of Vietnam through the ages and scenes from its past interactions with Italy.

-- People in the former imperial city of Hue will be provided with free wifi access in the administrative area and tourism spots as part of a six month pilot program jointly launched by Thua Thien-Hue Province's VNPT and VNPT Technology starting from September 22.
