House approves two new Deputy Prime Ministers

At the National Assembly’s sitting this morning, November 13, NA deputies cast their votes to elect two new Deputy Prime Ministers. As a result, Minister and Chairman of the Government Office Vu Duc Dam and Minister of Foreign Affairs Pham Binh Minh have been approved as new Deputy Prime Ministers with majority votes. Dam and Minh got 84.54 percent and 85.75 percent of the total votes cast respectively. After the voting, the NA issued a resolution to ratify Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung’s proposal to appoint the two new Deputy Prime Ministers.  National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung congratulated two new Deputy PMs, saying that he believes they will dedicate themselves to fulfilling their assigned tasks, repaying the trust that lawmakers and citizens have placed in them. Legislators later also voted in favor of the Prime Minister’s proposal to remove Dam from his former duties at the Government Office.

Meanwhile, Minh will work as both Deputy PM and Foreign Minister.   New deputy Prime Minister Dam was born on February 3, 1963. He has a doctoral degree in economics and can speak English and French. Meanwhile, new deputy Prime Minister Minh is 54 years old. He holds a masters’ degree in law and can speak English and French, too.
