A Thai retail corporation has officially marked its presence in Vietnam along with other plans to penetrate further into the country’s market by inaugurating a 10,000 square meter shopping center in Hanoi.

Vietnamplus reported that Central Retail Corporation, with the aim of becoming one of the most popular retailers in Vietnam, opened the Robins shopping center on Sunday.

Vietnam has become an ideal destination for investors in the retail sector as it is a potential market in terms of purchasing power with more than 60 percent of the population in working age, said Tos Chirativat, general director of Central Group which is the parent of Central Retail Corporation.

According to Chirativat, Hanoi and its vicinity have shown strong and stable development as their residents’ average income has continued to increase in recent years.

Foreign investment in Vietnam is also on the rise when many companies want to expand their business in Southeast Asia.

Speaking at the inaugural ceremony, Alan Thomson, chairman of Robinson Department Store Public Company, which manages Robins shopping centers in Vietnam, said this is the first time a Robins shopping center has been opened outside of Thailand.

The 10,000 square meter shopping center is located at Hanoi’s Royal City Vincom Mega Mall, selling products from famous brands such as M.A.C, Clinique, Lancôme, The Body Shop, F&F, Mc Jeans, and Samsonite.
