Politics:

- On October 31, deputies at the ongoing sixth session of the 13th National Assembly discussed implementation results of the 2013 socio-economic development plan and plan for 2014.  They also reviewed the progress of the master plan on economic restructuring and the 2011-2015 socio-economic development plan, while discussing solutions to realize the country’s socio-economic development goals by 2015.

Society:

- A leader of Hanoi Police informed that Nguyen Manh Tuong, who had thrown the body of a woman who died following a cosmetic surgery at his own beauty salon last month, has been prosecuted for health check regulations violation and intrusion. After the dead-body-throwing icident was discovered, Tuong’s salon, Cat Tuong Beauty Salon at 45 Giai Phong Street, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi has been found to be operating illegally.

- Suntory PepsiCo VN has announced a program to hand out 320 free Vietjet Air tickets of the flight on January 23 next year for students and workers from the Central region to return home for Tet holiday.

- According to Le Thanh Hai, deputy director of the National Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting Center, with the current progress, the Storm Krosa will directly affect Hoang Sa Islands.

- On October 31, Nguyen Tri Phuong, head of the organizing department from Long An Books & Cultural Services JSC confirmed the incident that a camera has been detected in a restroom’s ventilation window at a bookstore of the company which has recently caused stir. Police is investigating the case.

- Female baby Nguyen Thuy Dung, born at 2:45am at  the Central Obstetrics Hospital in Hanoi on November 1 has randomly been chosen to be the 90th Vietnamese citizen among many babies were born country-wide starting from 0:00am today.

Business:

- Food stores serving daily fresh sea foods have recently blossomed in HCMC to satisfy teh more and more increasing demand of clean sea foods in the city. The fooda are usually transferred from coastal cities like Phan Thiet, Da Nang and Nha Trang.

- The retail price of cooking gas has increased VND18,000 per 12-kilogram gas cylinder from today, November 1. Accordingly, the new prices will range from VND408,000-411,000 for a12-kilogram gas cylinder.

Lifestyle:

- On October 31, the Culture, Sport and Tourism Promoting Center under the Ministry of Culture, Sport and Tourism announced that they received 5 nominations for the national tourism ambassador title. The nominees include actress Lan Phuong, model Huynh Thi Ngoc Han, teacher Do Thi Hong Thuan, Miss Southeast Asia Dieu Han and Miss Asia US 2012 first runner-up Chau Mong Nhu.

- Japanese pianist Mari Terada, who had a long time studying piano in Germany, will perform for the first time in Ho Chi Minh City at a solo concert on November 1. During the around one-hour-and-a-half concert  titled "Autumn Dreams," Mari will perform masterpieces by world’s renowned composers including F. Chopin, J.Brahms, C.Debussy, F.Liszt and M. Mussorgsky.
