-- Vietnamese State President Tran Dai Quang said at an economic-trade cooperation seminar on Saturday during his ongoing visit to China that Vietnam encourages Chinese businesses, including those from Fujian Province, to invest in hi-tech projects in the Southeast Asian country.

-- A seminar addressing climate change in the Asia-Pacific region as part of the Inter-Parliamentary Union Assembly wrapped up in Hanoi on Saturday, with attendees making strong commitments in achieving sustainable development goals.

-- On Saturday, forces participating in the Pacific Partnership 2017, the annual deployment of forces from the Pacific Fleet of the United States Navy, conducted a joint drill to cope with oil spills on the iconic Han River in the central Vietnamese city of Da Nang.

-- Construction at the Cat Ba luxury resort complex, to cost more than US$3 billion, on Cat Ba Island, one of Vietnam’s UNESCO-recognized world biospheres located off the northern city of Hai Phong, began on Sunday despite grave environmental concerns.

-- Representatives of aquatic product businesses complained in a dialogue with Deputy Prime Minister Vu Duc Dam on Saturday that they have been burdened with stringent quality control and environmental protection standards, as well as numerous fees in recent times.
