-- Vietnam celebrated the Dien Bien Phu victory over French colonialists on Wednesday. The victory ended French colonial rule in the country 60 years ago.

-- Chinese vessels have rammed many Vietnamese ships in Vietnam’s waters and thus injured six Vietnamese fisheries surveillance force members over the last few days, Vietnamese officials said at an international press conference in Hanoi on Wednesday.

-- A Vietnam court upheld Wednesday the death sentences for two former executives of the state-owned Vietnam National Shipping Lines on graft charges.

-- A Vietnamese firm has filed a complaint to a local court against the chairman of the People’s Committee of the Mekong Delta province of Vinh Long for interfering with its waste treatment deal with a partner in neighboring Can Tho City.    

-- Vietnamese railway officials have promulgated regulations that ban gambling in any form in a bid to curb the social evil in the railway sector.

-- Vietnam’s exports of rice to Malaysia and many African countries fell 20 percent in the first four months of this year compared to the same period last year due to competition from Thailand, statistics have shown.
