Politics:

-- Vietnamese State President Truong Tan Sang is on an official visit to Hungary to strengthen bilateral cooperation relation. Both sides issued a common statement after the meeting of two presidents.

-- Japanese Defense Minister Itsunori Onodera is on his official visit in Vietnam from September 15-17.

-- The Communist Youth Union of Ho Chi Minh City is to recruit volunteers aged from 18-30 to take part in the youth program on the cruise ship SSEAYP 2013. Documents will be received till September 23.

Society:

-- Ho Chi Minh City authorities are to tighten regulations to curb traffic congestions, especially at areas around schools where many parents illegally park on streets to pick up their children.

-- The Ministry of Transport has agreed to add another VND300 billion (US$14.4 million) to upgrade the National Highway 20 linking Dong Nai and Lam Dong provinces. Earlier, the road was approved an investment capital of VND500 billion for repair.

-- A tropical low pressure on the East Sea may likely become a typhoon and will bring about heavy rains in Vietnam’s central region from September 18-21, according to the Central Hydrometeorology Center.

-- Vehicles registered for diplomatic missions in Vietnam are only allowed to transfer ownership to other individuals or agencies after two years in use, according to the Government. The Ministry of Finance said Vietnam has around 1,200 cars and motorbikes imported into the nation with diplomatic immunity.

-- The Ministry of Health has blamed the Ministry of Education and Training for the low quality of health staff.

-- Ho Chi Minh City authorities are to inspect the recruitment of staff in the construction inspection teams in Binh Chanh District after a mass construction of illegal houses happened in the locality.

-- Traders at the Hai Duong Commercial Center in the northern province of Hai Duong, where occurred a big fire two days ago blamed that the local fire prevention forces were unqualified in extinguishing the flames.

-- The central government and Kien Giang Province are collecting ideas to convert the travel island Phu Quoc of the province into a special economic and administrative region under the management of the central government.

Business:

-- District 5 in Ho Chi Minh City is assigned to host the construction of a trading center of food chemicals.

-- Several vegetable production firms in the central Lam Dong Province have cheated consumers by mixing ordinary vegetables with qualified vegetables meeting VietGAP standards and distributed to supermarkets at the price of VietGAP products.

-- The People’s Committee of Dong Nai Province was yesterday ruled by the local provincial court to revoke its unlawful decision of seizing land of foreign invested company SV International Vietnam and to continue performing responsibilities as previously approved by the both sides.

-- A delegation of representatives from eight oil and gas companies of the UK is in Vietnam to seek business opportunities in the energy market in the nation.

-- Vinh Long Province is to host the 2013 Economic Cooperation Forum for the Mekong Delta from November 21-24 to introduce the regional potentialities and call for investment from enterprises. It is planned that the forum will present investors with 139 projects with a total investment of US$8.6 billion.

Sports:

-- The Vietnamese national football team U-19 beats U-19 Myanmar 3-1 yesterday at the 2013 Southeast Asian Football Championship, AFF Cup.
