These leaders include General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Nguyen Phu Trong, President Truong Tan Sang, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung, and Chairman of the Vietnam Fatherland Front Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan, among others.

Also paying tribute to the souls of the heroes and martyrs were former Party General Secretary Le Kha Phieu, former President Tran Duc Luong, and former Chairman of the National Assembly Nguyen Van An.

The above-mentioned leaders later paid a visit to late President Ho Chi Minh at his mausoleum in the capital.

Also yesterday, many delegations from the CPV Central Military Commission, ministries and localities laid wreaths at the monument and paid homage to the late President.

A wide range of activities had earlier been held across the country to celebrate the War Invalids and Martyrs Day, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

On July 24, President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan paid floral tribute to war heroes at Hanoi’s Mai Dich cemetery.

The same day, in the central city of Da Nang, municipal leaders visited and presented relief to over 50,000 social welfare beneficiary families, many of whom are having their houses upgraded or built.

Also on the same day, the Ho Chi Minh Communist Youth Union chapter in the northern province of Bac Ninh paid a visit to critically wounded soldiers being treated at the Thuan Thanh nursing center.
