The 2016 Monsoon Music Festival (MMF), Vietnam’s biggest music event, kicked off in Hanoi on Friday, promising to electrify the Vietnamese capital with star-studded performances.

Now in its third edition, the 2016 festival is running from October 21 to 23 at the Imperial Citadel of Thang Long in Ba Dinh District, featuring celebrated artists from Vietnam and foreign countries such as U.K., U.S.A., Denmark, France, Germany, and Japan.

On the opening night, the festival stunned fans with performances from Vietnamese artists such as My Linh and bands including PB Nation and Mau Nuoc, as well as international guests including German DJ Brezel Goring, Sweden’s Kite, Denmark’s SaveUs and DJ Julien Sato and VJ 100LDK, both from Japan.

Young Vietnamese and foreigners of various nationalities had a fantastic night with a wide range of music, from ecstatic hip-hop performances to emotional country ballads.

Vietnam’s veteran pop singer My Linh brought to the show many of her hits songs, but did not forget to introduce some of her new songs in her latest album “Chat with Mozart No 2”.

On the second day tonight, October 21, performances, featured by world-famous artists such as Rukhsana Merrise from the U.K., Last Train from France, and Good Luck from South Africa, will be broadcast live on VTV1 channel at 8:15 pm.

One of the most awaited performances will be those from the Vietnamese divo Tung Duong and the young band named Lands consisting of nine students of the Berklee College of Music, including Anna Truong, the daughter of My Linh and the famous Vietnamese composer Anh Quan.

On Sunday, the festival will feature performances by the legendary German rock band Scorpions, which are poised to showcase some of their best hit songs such as Still loving you and Wind of change.

Also performing tomorrow are the South Korean boyband Idiotape and various Vietnamese DJs such as Dustee, Hoang Touliver, Teddy, and Mr. A.

The Monsoon Music Festival is expected to attract tens of thousands of music lovers this year.

There are six complimentary shuttle buses serving the audience.
