A number of university graduates in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak have complained that their degrees in English teaching has a spelling mistake that would hinder their job-seeking process.
Eighteen teachers who have just graduated in the Pedagogy of English major from Tay Nguyen University, located in the provincial capital city of Buon Ma Thuot, expressed concern over the problems they may face when applying for jobs because of the error on the degree certificates they received from the school on October 10.
The degree classification on the 18 degree certificates was written as “Verry good,” instead of “Very good.”
In response, Nguyen Van Hoa, head of the school’s training department, admitted the school’s fault.
According to Hoa, students should have checked their degrees before signing to receive them and can ask the school to fix any mistake.
He added that students can bring their misspelled degrees to the school for correction without having to pay a fee.
“Mistakes on degree certificates are common and our school always corrects them for students,” Hoa stated.
“This kind of typo can be rectified simply and quickly,” he added.
