Vietnam weightlifter wins 3 Asian silver medals

Vietnamese weightlifter Thach Kim Tuan, today won three silver medals in the men’s 56kg event at the Asian Weightlifting Championship which is taking place in Astana, Kazakhstan till June 26.

The medals came from the snatch and clean and jerk events and in total lifts.

The 19-year athlete lifted 125kg in snatch, 156kg in clean and jerk event, and 281kg for total lifts.

The other Vietnamese athlete, Tran Le Quoc Toan grabbed two bronze medals in the men’s 56kg for his results of 155kg in clean and jerk, and a total lift of 275kg.

The world Olympic champion Om Yun Choi from the North Korea crowned the championship title at the tournament’s 56kg for men’s with 126kg in snatch, 160kg in clean and jerk, and 286kg for his total lifts.

Do Thi Thuy of Vietnam won two silver medals in the women’s 53kg and Do Thi Thu Hoai got three bronzes in the women’s 48kg.

The tournament becomes an important rehearsal for Vietnam to prepare for the Asiad 2014 in South Korea.
