Thousands of vehicles of all kinds stuck on two main roads leading to Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on Wednesday morning.

The traffic jam, the latest in a series of gridlocks at the entrance to Vietnam’s busiest airport, occurred at around 9:00 pm, with vehicles inching along such streets as Tran Quoc Hoan and Hoang Van Thu.

Long lines of vehicles, including motorbikes, taxis, cars and trucks, filled the streets with areas near the Lang Cha Ca flyover and Hoang Van Thu Park in chaos.

As observed by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper at the scene, trucks and cars crossed to the motorbike lanes, whereas the motorbike drivers themselves rushed onto the pavements, trying to escape the chaos.

At 10:00 pm, a passenger car and a tank truck collided right at the entrance to the airport, adding fuel to the congestion.

“And yet the jam will be worse when they start constructing a flyover near the airport,” a driver lamented.

Below are photos of the jam taken by Tuoi Tre.
