-- Lieutenant General Le Dong Phong, director of the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Police, on Saturday led a delegation to visit Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper’s head office in Ho Chi Minh City and congratulated the newspaper leaders ahead of the Vietnam Revolutionary Journalists’ Day (June 21).

-- Eight members on a fishing ship on Saturday docked safely at Sa Ky Port, located in the central province of Quang Ngai, and reported to local border guards and police that their vessel had been rammed by a Chinese boat while fishing in Vietnam’s Hoang Sa (Paracel) waters on Thursday. The Vietnamese crew men also provided a video clip capturing the chase and attack, which left their ship damaged on its right side.

-- The deputy director of the General Hospital in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak confirmed on Saturday that the hospital had admitted a 60-year-old ethnic minority woman who miraculously survived a fall into a deserted 20-meter-deep well and pulled through after nine days without food or water.

-- The chair of Hoa Vang District in the central city of Da Nang said on Saturday that they are searching high and low for a suspect who had stabbed a female 12th grader and slashed her in the neck to death at her home on Friday night.

-- A traffic accident occurred on Saturday morning between two trucks and a car inside Thu Thiem Tunnel in Ho Chi Minh City, leaving the passage blockaded for half an hour on the direction from District 2 to District 1.

-- Realty developers in Ho Chi Minh City have lamented that an increasing number of clients have failed to pay premiums following initial down payments, which has delayed project progress and affected both the developers and fellow property buyers.

-- Crocodile farmers in the Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu have been hurt by the recent slump in crocodile prices, which have crashed by 60 to 70 percent compared to the same period last year.

-- The state-owned Saigon Railways Corp. will launch more high-quality tourism trains to resort towns of Phan Thiet and Nha Trang in the south-central provinces of Binh Thuan and Khanh Hoa with cheap prices starting July 1.

-- Twenty students from the Vietnam National University-Ho Chi Minh City and the National University of Singapore partook in the second edition of the Asian Undergraduate Summit, an annual international event which encourages undergraduates to take part in social activities and enhances interactions among all young participants. The six-day activity-packed event wrapped up in Ho Chi Minh City on Friday.
