On January 15, the Quang Ninh Provincial Library and Museum complex received the "Construction of the Year 2013" award granted by Ashui.com, the official website of the Vietnam Urban Planning and Development Association.
Designed by the Vietnam Institute of Architecture, Urban and Rural Planning and the S Design JSC, the VND900 billion (US$43 million) complex located at Hong Hai Ward, Ha Long City, includes three blocks with a museum, a library, and a conference hall.
The design of the 6,500m2 construction was inspired by coal, the signature mineral of the northern province of Quang Ninh. The complex welcomed more than 12,000 visitors in just half of its opening month last October.

Bui Anh Phu Ninh won the Architect of the Year award; architect Dang Thai Hoang received the Architect Award for theory and criticism; Nguyen Duy Thanh was granted the Community Architect Award; Nguyen Phuoc Vinh won the Potential Architect Award, and Vo Trong Nghia received the Honorable Architect Award.
