Vietnam has 135.9 million telephone subscribers

Vietnam saw a registration of over 8 million new telephone subscribers in the first nine months of this year, up 10 percent over the same period last year.

According to the General Statistics Office (GSO), the figure raised the number of telephone users nationwide to 135.9 million thus far, which included 15 million landline subscribers and almost 121 million mobile phone subscribers.

As of September, the total number of internet subscriptions nationwide hit 4.4 million, posting a year-on-year surge of 13.9 percent, the GSO said.

Revenues of the post and telecommunications sector in the first three quarters of 2012 reached VND122.9 trillion (US$5.9 billion), up 7.6 percent against the same period last year, the office’s data showed.
