Fulbright Program begins accepting applications from Vietnamese

The Fulbright Vietnamese Student Scholarship Program is looking for candidates for 20 to 25 full master’s degree scholarships at U.S. universities in the 2015-16 academic year, the U.S. Embassy in Hanoi says on its website.

The Fulbright Program will arrange placement at universities in the United States for successful candidates. They will receive a full scholarship which covers tuition and fees, a monthly stipend, a round-trip airfare to the U.S. and health insurance.

The opportunity is open to all applicants who are Vietnamese citizens (no dual citizenship), hold at least one undergraduate degree, have at least two years of work experience after graduation by the time of application, and achieve a valid minimum TOEFL iBT 79 or IELTS 6.5.

Available fields of study include American literature, architecture, agricultural economics, development studies, education, journalism, law, information system, public administration, social work, public policy, public health, and others.

Candidates are required to apply online at https://apply.embark.com/student/fulbright/international/20/ by 5:00PM, April 28, 2014.

A complete online application package must include an application form, two essays (study objectives and personal statement), three letters of recommendation, transcripts and diplomas, TOEFL iBT and/or IELTS score reports, and a résumé.

Established in 1946 and funded by the U.S. Congress, the Fulbright Program aims at achieving mutual understanding through academic and cultural exchange.

More than 500 Vietnamese students have been selected to participate in the program since 1992.
