A man was arrested on Saturday after he shot and injured his sister-in-law at an eatery in Ho Chi Minh City.
Police officers said on Sunday that they are keeping the suspect in custody for a further investigation into his illegal possession and use of firearms.
The man, identified as Nguyen Van Hung, 51, resides in Ward 9, District 10, Ho Chi Minh City.
Hung was caught in the act by a police squad patrolling the district.

The police, who were passing by the site of the incident at 512 Ly Thai To Street at around 8:00 pm yesterday, saw Hung drawing a gun-shaped metal object out and shooting at a table, seriously injuring a woman in the arm, who was later taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.
The officers immediately apprehended the shooter and escorted him to a police station where he was found carrying a pistol, five bullets, and a switchblade.

He said his shooting stemmed from prior family conflicts with the victim, who he said is his sister-in-law, Nguyen Thi Le Huong.
Police investigation is still underway, according to officers.
