Two people were killed and seven others injured after a train slammed into a car in the southern Vietnamese province of Dong Nai on Wednesday morning.

The 16-seater automobile was hit by the train SQN1, running from the south-central province of Binh Dinh to Ho Chi Minh City, when it was traveling in Bien Hoa City, Dong Nai at around 10:15 am.

Two people in the car, Pham Hong Anh and Pham Tien, were killed on the spot, while seven others were wounded, of whom four were young children.

Three out of the four children suffered major injuries, doctors from a local children’s hospital stated.

Most of the victims were members of a family in Bien Hoa City, who rented the vehicle to travel to the southern beach city of Vung Tau for the Lunar New Year holiday.
