Vietnam will continue working with Japan in deepening bilateral cooperation in all aspects, especially economics, trade, investment and development aid, for more productive outcomes.

Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung made the affirmation while receiving visiting Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry Yukio Edano in Hanoi on August 15.

At the reception, the PM spoke highly of the results of the talks between Yukio Edano and the Vietnamese Ministers of Industry and Trade, and Planning and Investment, affirming support for cooperation agreements reached by both sides.

Dung suggested Japan create conditions for Vietnamese goods to penetrate into its market, help Vietnam in developing industries, particularly support industries, and increase development aid for Vietnam’s infrastructure sector.

Japan should speed up the effective implementation of major projects already agreed by the two sides, including the building of the Ninh Thuan 2 nuclear power plant and the development of rare earth industry in Vietnam , he said.

The PM affirmed that the Vietnamese Government will provide favourable conditions for Japanese businesses to increase investment in Vietnam as well as cooperation through the public-private partnership (PPP).

He expressed his wish that the two sides will enhance cooperation in politics-diplomacy, security-defence, culture and tourism.

For his part, Minister Yukio Edano said that the two countries’ relations have developed positively in various aspects, bringing practical benefits to both sides.

He said during his visit, the two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the coming time, mentioning Japan ’s support for Vietnam in accelerating the industrialisation process.

The Japanese minister affirmed that Japan will work to facilitate export of Vietnamese goods to its market, team up with Vietnam in developing support industries and effectively implement major projects agreed by the two countries’ high-ranking leaders.

The same day, visiting Minister Yukio Edano attended a public-private policy dialogue between Vietnam and Japan in Hanoi , which, economic experts said, not only helps Vietnam perfect its policy framework but also assists Japanese investors in implementing their projects more effectively in Vietnam .

According to Minister of Planning and Investment Bui Quang Vinh, in the recent time, international donors have continuously assisted Vietnam in building a public-private policy framework in accordance with international practices and the country’s situation.

Among those, Japan , which boasts a great deal of experience in implementing PPP, is always considered Vietnam ’s leading partner, he stressed.

Yukio Edano said that Japan is ready to cooperate with Vietnam in the areas of infrastructure, airport and road construction and electricity production to contribute to the Southeast Asian country’s industrialisation process.
