An international workshop on cultural heritage during Vietnam’s Nguyen dynasty will take place in Hue City this week.
The event is scheduled to be held from September 15 to 17.
Organized by the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, the workshop will evaluate the value of cultural heritage during the Nguyen dynasty (1802-1945).
It will also discuss measures to sustainably preserve and promote the value as a means of boosting local tourism.
The workshop will mainly focus on five UNESCO-recognized heritage sites from Vietnam’s last monarchical reign, as well as tangible and intangible heritage, such as ‘Nha nhac cung dinh Hue’ (Hue Court Music), Hue royal cuisine, and royal antiques.
According to the organizers, the workshop is expected to be attended by some 200 representatives who are all local and international researchers and scientists.
Among them, there will be 20 foreign delegates from well-known universities and research institutes in South Korea, Japan, France, and Germany.
The event will open on September 15 with an exhibition on Vietnam’s name and capital from the beginning to 1945.
