Vietnam attends UN General Assembly that focuses on security, stability

Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Pham Binh Minh joined other leaders of United Nations’ country members at the 69th UN General Assembly that opened at the UN headquarters in New York on Wednesday. The event kicked off on September 16 afternoon (local time) and early Wednesday morning (Vietnam time), under the chair of President of the UN General Assembly Sam Kahama Kutesa and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon. Representatives of 193 country members took part in the event. Addressing the event, the UN General Assembly President said that the top agenda of the session is to adopt post-2015 UN development agenda that will be human centered, and discuss solutions to cope with the climate change and challenges to security and stability in regions and the whole world. As scheduled in the event’s agenda, 144 heads of states will attend meetings and discussions that will take place over the next two weeks. From September 23 to 26, 195 speakers representing the UN’s country members and observers will deliver important speeches in front of the General Assembly about issues of global concerns. Vietnamese Deputy PM Pham Binh Minh, who is also the Minister of Foreign Affairs, will deliver an important speech at a high-ranking discussion session of the General Assembly. The annual general debate, in which the General Assembly hears statements by heads of state and government, as well as ministers, will take place from September 24 until October 1.
