Facebook users in Vietnam and around the world were stunned to see their favorite social network went offline on Thursday afternoon in an apparent global outage.
All that users could see when visiting the website was a message that read, "Sorry, something went wrong. We're working on getting this fixed as soon as we can."
Facebook too was inaccessible via smartphone apps.
Vietnamese users jumped to other social networks such as Twitter and Instagram to report the outage.
At around 1530 GTM+7, roughly 20 minutes after going down, the platform appeared to have returned to normal service.
Facebook's live status (https://developers.facebook.com/status/) also said it was healthy then.
"We resolved the issue quickly, and we are now back to 100 percent," Carson Dalton, Facebook Inc's India communications head, said in an email sent to Reuters. "We're sorry for any inconvenience this may have caused."
This is the longest outage in the history of the Facebook Inc's website.
Its co-founder Mark Zuckerberg has reportedly said that Facebook would never crash.
