Chief of the General Staff of the Vietnam People’s Army, Senior Lieutenant General Do Ba Ty, hosted a reception for Commander of the U.S. Pacific Air Forces, General Herbert J. Carlisle, in Hanoi on Monday.
>> U.S. veterans pay respects to My Lai Massacre victims Speaking at the reception, Ty, who is also Deputy Defense Minister, expressed his pleasure at practical and effective developments in the defense relations between Vietnam and the U.S. in recent years. Vietnam highly appreciates the U.S. Department of Defense for its cooperation in humanitarian aid, disaster mitigation, English language training, and the search for the remains of U.S. soldiers who went missing in the American War in Vietnam, Ty said.
For his part, Carlisle said that the Pacific Air Forces will work closely with its Vietnamese counterpart in training personnel, providing aerospace medicine, disaster relief aid, airborne search and rescue operations, and ensuring safe flights. He also suggested that both sides continue strengthening the exchange of information related to their cooperation activities.
