IPU President lauds Vietnam’s preparations for 132nd Assembly

Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) President Abdelwahad Radi today highly appreciated Vietnam’s preparations for the 132nd IPU Assembly that is scheduled to take place in the country in March 2015.    

>> Vietnam urges preparation for IPU general assembly The IPU President showed his appreciation during a March 17 meeting with visiting Vietnamese National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung in Geneva, Switzerland. The event’s success will mark a milestone in the IPU’s history and at the same time help attract more foreign investors to the host country, Abdelwahad Radi said.

He also highly valued Vietnam’s achievements in its socio-economic development over the past years, attributing them to great contributions of the Vietnamese National Assembly.

For his part, NA Chairman Hung thanked the IPU President for his support for Vietnam’s hosting of the 132nd IPU Assembly. Hung also expressed his hope that the IPU leader will continue giving assistance to the Vietnamese legislative body’s activities.

On this occasion, Vietnam unveiled the logo of the 132nd IPU Assembly and suggested its theme, which will focus on parliament and the implementation of IPU’s sustainable development program beyond 2015.

After their talks, the two officials witnessed the signing of an agreement between the IPU and the Vietnamese NA concerning the preparations for the 132nd IPU Assembly and relevant meetings.
