Five people working for a restaurant in Ho Chi Minh City which offered unauthorized karaoke service to Chinese and Taiwanese were discovered doing drugs on Saturday.
Police carried out an unexpected inspection at the Tan Ha restaurant in District 5 and found five, including four women, positive for drugs following a quick test on 25 staff members.
Located on Tran Hung Dao Street, the restaurant, whose owner is Pham Thi Dep, 34, was then offering karaoke service in two rooms without a permit.
At 9:00 pm, there were nine guests and eight scantily-clad female staff at the eatery, all of whom were singing karaoke and gulping beer, according to a Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporter who accompanied police.
All of the guests are Chinese and Taiwanese, police officers said.
An underage girl was also found working at the restaurant at that time.
Police took away the karaoke sets and held the five using drugs for investigation.
