The U.S. Embassy in Hanoi has just handed over certificates and awards to the winners of a logo design competition organized to celebrate 20 years of diplomatic ties between Vietnam and the North American country.

An awards ceremony was held on Friday last week in Hanoi, according to the Vietnamese Ministry of Culture, Sports, and Tourism.

The organizing board presented the first, second, and third prizes along with an iPad Air, iPod Touch, and iPod Shuffle to Doan Hai Tu, Tran Hoang Dung, and Tran Hoai Duc, respectively.

The first-prize winning logo features Vietnam’s and the U.S.’s national flags as a ribbon which forms the number 20.

The design is suggestive of youthfulness and dynamism as well as the two countries’ thriving relation and cooperation in various aspects.

The winning logo will be included in the materials used in the embassy’s anniversary-marking activities during next year.

According to Chargé d'Affaires Claire Pierangelo from the embassy, almost 170 contestants submitted 260 designs to the competition that was launched in May this year.

The competition was organized to seek Vietnamese citizens’ innovative designs for the first commemorative logo of the bright future shared by the two nations.

Vietnam and the U.S. normalized their diplomatic relations in 1995, twenty years after the war ended.
