-- Over the past week, more than 100 dwellings in five localities in the north-central province of Nghe An have had their roofs blown away during whirlwinds coupled with hails.

-- Another six houses in An Phu District in the Mekong Delta province of An Giang were ‘swallowed’ as a riverbank section collapsed on Tuesday in the latest case of alarming land subsidence that has plagued the area over the past few weeks.

-- Police in Lam Ha District in the Central Highlands of Lam Dong on Tuesday arrested six junkies at a rehabilitation center for being involved in a fight and killing another drug addict in the process two days earlier.

-- Border guards in the north-central province of Ha Tinh have disclosed they had apprehended two Laotians, including a teenager, for attempting to smuggle one brick of heroin and 2,000 meth tablets into Vietnam on Tuesday.

-- Over the past three days, fish have died en masse in coastal areas spanning 10 kilometers in Kien Luong District in southern Kien Giang Province, an official confirmed. 

-- Three people were struck dead by lightning on Tuesday while they were digging a grave for a deceased person in Bo Trach District in the north-central province of Quang Binh.

-- Many have voiced their concerns over the feasibility and efficacy of a bill meant to minimize alcoholic drinks-related health effects, including a ban on advertisements of beer and prohibiting beer companies from sponsoring sports tournaments and social programs.

-- Tuoi Tre (Youth) Newspaper and top dairy producer Vinamilk have launched a program from May to August which is meant to raise people’s awareness on proper nutrition and physical exercise for a healthy lifestyle.

-- A new international terminal has been put to use at Da Nang International Airport in the central namesake city.

-- An official from the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Planning and Investment reported at a seminar on Tuesday the metropolis has attracted 125 public-private partnership (PPP) projects, including ten in the medical sector, with investments totaling VND410 trillion (US$17.8 billion), as of March 2017.

-- Internet giant Google has pulled approximately 1,500 video clips out of more than 2,300 videos with 'toxic' content that Vietnam’s Ministry of Information and Communications had demanded removal from YouTube, according to the broadcast watchdog.

-- At a press conference held on Tuesday to promote the 2017 Quang Nam Heritage Festival, Dinh Hai, director of the Department of Culture, Tourism and Sports in central Quang Nam Province, home to the UNESCO-recognized Hoi An Ancient Town, rebutted rumors that they had approved construction of a cable car system to Cu Lao Cham (Cham Islet), an emerging tourist destination.
