-- Vietnam needs stronger collaboration with Myanmar in fighting crime via bilateral and multilateral mechanisms, Minister of Public Security To Lam said during a reception in Hanoi on Wednesday for Myanmarese Deputy Minister of Home Affairs Aung Soe.

-- Officials from Vietnam’s central province of Thua Thien-Hue and Laos’ southern Salavan Province on Wednesday signed an MoU on cooperation in border management at their annual meeting in the central Vietnamese city of Hue.

-- On Wednesday, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs Le Thi Thu Hang confirmed a Vietnamese citizen, named Tran Viet Van, had been killed in the Philippines’ military attacks on the terrorist group Abu Sayyaf.

-- The center for managing and operating public transport in Ho Chi Minh City is offering free rides to school and vice versa for students in 28 suburban districts.

-- Huynh Van Tuan, 37, residing in Ho Chi Minh City’s Hoc Mon District, on Wednesday received a life sentence for murder after beating his daughter’s boyfriend to death two years ago.

-- The Central Highlands province of Lam Dong and its capital city, Da Lat, may face a risk of no running water in the next ten years due to agricultural pollution, said Nguyen Ngoc Phuc, director of the provincial Department of Natural Resources and Environment.

-- According to the Ho Chi Minh City Pasteur Institute, the number of deaths from dengue fever since the beginning of this year has seen a fifty percent increase, from 10 to 15, compared with the same period last year.

-- Vietnam has recently ranked second on the list of the largest footwear suppliers to the EU and the U.S. in 2016, with the total turnover of more than US$7.8 billion.
