-- General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Nguyen Phu Trong is scheduled to pay a state visit to Cambodia from July 20 to 22, under the invitation of King Norodom Sihamoni.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Transport has been ordered to finalize a plan of a railway route connecting the southern hub with the Mekong Delta city of Can Tho, which will be later submitted to the transport ministry. Upon completion, it will take 45 minutes to travel between the two cities instead of an over three-hour drive.

-- Ho Chi Minh City is planning to open several bus routes between the current Mien Dong (Eastern) Bus Station, which is located in Binh Thanh District, and the new facility in District 9, in preparations for the relocation of the bus station in early 2018.

-- A viral video has captured a retired lieutenant general yelling at and threatening a traffic police officer in Can Tho City his car was pulled over for speeding.

-- Despite the readiness of national carrier Vietnam Airlines, a direct flight between the Southeast Asian country and the United States cannot be open as the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam has not met all the requirements from the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

-- Amidst the upcoming decision to replace the country’s most popular A92 gasoline with E5 biofuel, many businesses in Ho Chi Minh city are still shying away from selling the latter type of fuel as it remains neglected by a majority of residents.

-- The opening date of Bui Vien Walking Street in the ‘backpacker area’ of Ho Chi Minh City has been postponed from July 15 to August 19 due to objective reasons, according to the People’s Committee in District 1.
