The administration of north-central Quang Binh Province and Jetstar Pacific Airlines have launched a direct route connecting the Vietnamese province and Thailand’s northern city of Chiang Mai.

Jetstar will operate two flights weekly between Quang Binh’s capital city of Dong Hoi and Chiang Mai using Airbus A320 jets.

The flights will take off every Monday and Friday from Dong Hoi Airport and Chiang Mai International Airport.

On Mondays, planes will leave Dong Hoi for Chiang Mai at 2:35 pm before returning from Chiang Mai at 5:25 pm.

On Fridays, passengers can board the 3:05 pm flight to Chiang Mai from Dong Hoi, with a return trip scheduled for 6:00 pm.

One hundred and eighty economy seats are available on each flight, which lasts one hour and 40 minutes.

Ticket prices start from VND410,000 (US$18), excluding taxes, airport fees and other promotional discounts.

Dong Hoi Airport is in Loc Ninh Commune, six kilometers north of Dong Hoi City in Quang Binh Province and about 500 kilometers south-east of Hanoi by road.

The direct route, the first between Quang Binh and Chiang Mai, is expected to facilitate a more convenient traveling experience for the increasing number of Thai tourists to the Vietnamese province, according to the provincial People’s Committee.
