​2nd “Savour Vietnam” Writing Contest - Rules & Regulations

On the occasion of the 42th Foundation Anniversary of Saigontourist (August 1, 1975

– August 1, 2017) and with the aim of honoring the beauty of Vietnamese culture, tradition, people and nature, promoting Vietnam’s hospitality industry as well as continuing with the success from the Writing Contest - the first edition of "Savour Vietnam" in 2014, Saigontourist and Tuoi Tre Newspaper launch the 2nd Writing Contest “Savour Vietnam” 2017

 

Content:

-            Feelings/thoughts on Vietnamese tradition, culture, traditional customs, people, nature… 

 

Eligibility:

-           The contest is open to Vietnamese people and foreigners at all ages and careers.

 

Duration:

       -     From August 15, 2017 to March 31, 2018

 

Submission of entries:

-           Entries not more than 1,500 words each. Pictures enclosed are preferred.

-           Entries shall be in either Vietnamese or English.

-           Viewers can have a look at all entries at http://bansacviet.tuoitre.vn .Entries that have won prizes in prior contests; have been posted on social networking sites; and/or have been published are not eligible.

-           Entries must be the original and unpublished works of participants or copyright owners.

-            Email to: gopydulich@tuoitre.com.vn (please attach a complete entry form)

-            Mail to:  Bao Tuoi Tre, 60A Hoang Van Thu, Phu Nhuan District, Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, please state “The 2nd ‘Savour Vietnam’ Writing Contest” on the envelope (please enclose a complete entry form)

-            Please note that all submissions must include a complete entry form downloaded at http://bansacviet.tuoitre.vn. Submissions without an enclosed or attached complete entry form will be deleted without prior notice.

 

Prizes:

 

02 Quarterly prizes: VND5 million each in cash by Saigontourist

-               The first one is for submissions from August 2017 to the end of November 2017.

-               The second one is for submissions from December 1, 2017 to March 31, 2018.

 

 

Final prizes: in cash by Saigontourist and in kind from Saigontourist Travel Service

·          The first prize:    VND25 million + a travel voucher valued at VND10 million

·          02 second prizes: VND15 million + a travel voucher valued at VND5 million (each)

·          03 third prizes:    VND10 million + a travel voucher valued at VND3 million (each)

·          04 consolation prizes:  VND5 million/each

 

Prize Presentation: scheduled for June 2018

- Saigontourist sponsors accommodation of two nights for those prize-winners who are not Ho Chi Minh City residents to receive prizes in the city. The rooms are booked by Saigontourist only.

- Two winners of the same sex shall share a twin room. Odd winners, if any, will be in single rooms.

      Rules and regulations:

-

The entries of the organizers, the members of the panel of judges, employees of Saigontourist’s headquarters and Tuoi Tre’s headquarters or national offices and branches are acceptable but not eligible for any prize.

-

By entering the writing contest, entrants agree to be bound by these rules and regulations.

-

Entrants take all responsibility for provided information and the content of the entry.

-

Earlier submitted entries will have better chances to compete against the same-scored entries, which have been submitted later, for the quarterly prize and in the final round.

-

Tuoi Tre will pay royalties for the entries published in its print publication.

-

The organizers reserve the right to reproduce any entry in print, broadcast and/or electronic media for the advertisements related to the contest at any time without the entrants’ permission and without any fee payment.

-

The organizers reserve the right to reproduce prize-winning entries in print, broadcast and/or electronic media for commercial purposes during or after the contest at any time without the winners’ permission and without any fee payment. The organizers do not hold the right to sell the entries to a third party or publicize any materials/videos in which the entries are included for commercial purposes.

-

The organizers will pay every non-winning entry, which is chosen to be printed in the 2nd “Savour Vietnam” photo book, VND300,000 (three hundred thousand VND) for the permission to either reproduce/print it in printing materials or publish it in electronic media as types of tourism advertising methods after the contest. The organizers do not hold the right to sell the entries to a third party or publicize any materials in which the entries are included for commercial purposes.

-

Prize-winners who cannot take part in the prize presentation can nominate someone as a proxy and must provide the organizers with the official papers as stated in Vietnamese laws by the time when the prize presentation commences.

- A resident Vietnamese prize-winner who wants the prize to be transferred (in cash) and mailed (in kind), please contact Saigontourist regarding procedures for receiving prizes (Tel: 028.38225887, ext: 88).

- The prize (in cash and in kind) of the foreign prize-winners or Vietnamese prize-winners who are not living in Vietnam will be given to his/her representative in Vietnam only.

-

Prizes in cash will be subject to tax as stated in the law before being handed or transferred to the prize-winners.

-

Prizes in kind cannot be exchanged in whole or in part for cash.

-

Prize-winners who do not live in Ho Chi Minh City must confirm whether they can come to the prize presentation for the accommodation reservation. If the prize-winner appears without prior confirmation, the organizers can only locate them in a hotel if there are rooms in the same type available. If the prize-winner would like to upgrade the room type or stay in another hotel, they will be responsible for all extra fees and costs.

The prize-winner must confirm their appearance at the prize presentation. If the prize-winner has not confirmed their appearance, the prize in cash will be transferred to the appointed bank account and prizes in kind (if any) will be mailed to their submitted mailing address. The organizers bear no liability for any loss or damage to the prizes in kind during the mailing.

-

The entries which will be exhibited/awarded/printed in the photo book will be selected by the judging panel and their decision is final. No correspondence pertaining to the selection process and decision will be entertained.

-

Entries which are not suitable for Vietnamese tradition, customs, laws or violate the rules & regulations of the contest will be rejected without prior notice.

-

The judging panel reserves the right not to award the prizes if the entries submitted fail to meet the requirements stated in this document or are involved in any copyright infringement.

-

The organizers shall not be held liable for any loss of submissions/files on their way to the organizers.

-

The organizers reserve the right not to send back or delete submitted entries after the contest is over.

-

The organizers reserve the right to make final decisions on any issues which have not been stated in the rules & regulations.
