The 5th meeting of the Joint-Governmental Committee (JGC) between Vietnam and Denmark was organized on October 11 within the framework of the Vietnam - Denmark Comprehensive Partnership Action Plan.

The event was co-chaired by Minister for Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung and Minister for Foreign Affairs Kristian Jensen in Hanoi, the Embassy of Denmark in Vietnam said in a press release the same day

At the meeting, the two Ministers noted the rapid development of economic cooperation and bilateral trade between Vietnam - Denmark during the recent years, especially since the two countries became comprehensive partners in 2013 and signed subsequent specific action plans for 2014-2015 and 2016.

The development in bilateral trade is very positive with the total value increasing sharply, and Denmark’s investment in Vietnam is also on a positive trend. 

The importance of the EU-Vietnam Free Trade Agreement in further developing the bilateral trade and investment cooperation was also highlighted at the meeting.

On development cooperation, agreement has been reached on a roadmap for procedural harmonization by both sides to further promote the Danida Business Finance program in Vietnam, with the aim to finance projects of relevant scales that utilize Danish modern technology and techniques.

Furthermore, the two ministers recognized the importance of the new Strategic Sector Cooperation programmes between Vietnamese and Danish ministries and agencies within environment, food and agriculture, health and education.

In addition to the achievements made in economic cooperation and trade, the two ministers also pointed out challenges and measures for further strengthen the role and responsibilities of Government agencies and enterprises from both countries.

They also considered mechanisms for effective exchange of information for timely handling difficulties/problems for businesses in the commercial and investment cooperation.

In the spirit of cooperation through JGC’s meeting, the two countries believe that economic cooperation and trade between Vietnam and Denmark will continue to grow and will contribute to the successful implementation of the Action Plan of the Comprehensive Partnership Agreement which both sides have been committed to.
