Nearly 50 men hunt down, attempt to kill family in northern Vietnam

Nearly 50 young men carrying knives, machetes, and metal batons attacked a residence in the northern Vietnamese province of Phu Tho on Tuesday, attempting to assassinate all members of the family.

The provincial Department of Police affirmed on Wednesday that they were investigating a case in which a large group of young men carried out an assault on a family residing on Nguyen Trai Street in Au Co Ward the night before.

Around 50 men armed with knives, machetes, and metal batons arrived at the house in three cars, before cursing and yelling at residents inside.

As Tran Van Dung, Tran Van Tuan, and other people in the house were terrified and attempted to flee, they were hunted down by some of the attackers while others damaged the victims’ property.

The thugs continued searching the neighborhood to attack Dung’s family.

 

Local police were notified of the incident, but the group of assaulters escaped in their vehicles, leaving several weapons on the street, before officers arrived at the scene.

The victims were immediately brought to the hospital were Dung began treatment for severe cuts to his face and Tuan was treated for serious injuries to his arms.

One of the witnesses managed to film the incident on his phone and uploaded the footage to social media on Wednesday.

The case is under investigation.
