Dozens of students besieged the house of the director of a foreign language center chain in Ho Chi Minh City to claim tuition on Thursday because the school system has failed to deliver services as promised.
The director was nowhere to be found then, however.
The students, who are enrolled at a District 10 branch of the Dong Au (Eastern Europe) foreign language center system, are forced to study at an elementary school with tables and chairs designed for kids, they complained, adding they have repetitively reported it to the system management and never received a satisfactory answer.
The branch has never sent a native speaker to teach the enrollees as they had told them before, the students complained.
The complainants added that they have been asked to frequently change study place over the last few months while other Dong Au branches have also told their learners to relocate a few times, which may be an indication that the system would be dissolved.
Tuoi Tre recently managed to contact Vuong Quang Hung, Dong Au director, who explained that his center moved the students to the elementary school because the lease agreement he signed with the owner of the District 10 property had expired.
Hung said that the students can choose to temporarily stay home and wait until he is able to move the center to another location.
But the students told Tuoi Tre that they just wanted a tuition refund since the center had gone back on their word so many times.
