Hanoi will block a series of streets to organize the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) scheduled from March 28 to April 1 with the participation of nearly 2,000 foreign delegates from 150 nations and international organizations.
The assembly will feature a plenary session, other sessions of standing committees, a meeting of women parliamentarians and a forum of young parliamentarians.
According to Hanoi police, they will block streets from 6:00am till 10:00pm during the city’s largest diplomatic event.
All trucks with a loading capacity of over 500kgs and passenger buses with at least 25 seats will be blocked from 36 streets, including Tran Duy Hung, Nguyen Chi Thanh, Kim Ma, Buoi and Tran Phu.
All vehicles will be banned from entering Thang Long Avenue around the Vietnam National Convention Center; Pham Hung from Tran Duy Hung to Me Tri; Mieu Dam; and Do Duc Duc.
During the period, Hanoi policemen will stand on duty at crossroads to guide the traffic flows of motorbikes, buses and trucks.
The IPU is the principal statutory body that expresses views on political issues. It brings together parliamentarians to study international problems and make recommendations for action.
