Christmas season brings shoppers to Saigon flea markets

Christmas season brings shoppers to Saigon flea markets

Thousands of shopaholics flocked to flea markets around Saigon’s downtown area last weekend to purchase Christmas items.

Held once or twice per month on weekends, many flea markets in the city are open from the morning until late at night and sell all kinds of goods such as souvenirs, food, shoes, cosmetics, clothes, handbags, ceramics and anything else a city dweller needs.

A common thing seen at flea markets around the city during the last weekend was the Christmas atmosphere spread around through songs, decorations and Christmas-themed products.

According to some vendors at these markets, the number of customers increased compared with previous markets.

“Our most popular products are Christmas-themed accessories like Christmas tree bracelets and Santa Claus headbands since girls like wearing them to pose for photos with Christmas decorations,” Tram Anh from Ohay Shop at the 2Day SALE flea market said.

Meanwhile, Nguyen Hoang Khanh, head of the supervising team of the market, told Tuoi Tre News that they have welcomed around 2,000 customers per market day since the beginning of December.

“This is double compared to previous months,” he said.

“The weather now is turning a bit cold so items like sweaters, jackets and hoodies are among the bestsellers,” he added. “Colors like green, red and white are also customer favorites because it’s Christmas time.”

Other flea markets in town like 1Spot, Sale4share and Hello Weekend also ran many discount programs, helping to create a bustling shopping season in the city at the end of the year.
