A Vietnamese man is said to appear in custody at Bromley Magistrates’ Court, London on June 3 (local time) over charges of murdering an 82-year-old woman who was killed in a fire late May, local media said.

BBC reported that 22-year-old Le Tuan Anh, of no fixed abode, has also been charged with two counts of arson with intent to endanger life and two counts of arson reckless as to whether life endangered.

However, the details of his involvement in this murder case still remain unknown.

Investigators said four other people, two men and two women have been granted bail until a date in mid-July pending further investigations.

According to The News Shopper, Giuseppina Fazzani of Italian descent, who will turn 83 on June 3, was rescued from the blaze at the former Lou's Cafe building in Deptford High Street at around 1.30am on May 29 but she was pronounced dead at the scene around one hour and a half later.

Friends and neighbors of the deceased told The News Shopper that Fazzani had run the high street cafe for many years along with her husband before he passed away. In later years she had looked after her sister-in-law who was ill and had developed problems walking.

According to The London Evening Standard, another woman, 55, was rescued from a second flat and treated for smoke inhalation. It added that she has been discharged from hospital.

The News Shopper quoted Detective Chief Inspector Cliff Lyons of the Homicide and Serious Crime Command as saying: “There is evidence that an accelerant was used to start this fire on two adjoining premises in Deptford High Street.”

"We know one premises is a Vietnamese restaurant and the other a converted cafe that has been turned into residential accommodation,” he said – “Giuseppina is not connected with the Vietnamese restaurant and it is not clear at this early stage of the inquiry why these premises were targeted”.

Police said they are tracing a red Peugeot 406 with registration KP51 GKC, pictured on a petrol station forecourt on the day the fire started, as part of their investigations.
