Politics:

- On September 14 Indian President Pranab Mukherjee arrived in Hanoi for a visit that will last until the 17th, under the invitation of Vietnamese President Truong Tan Sang. During the visit, the two sides will sign a series of cooperation agreements in the fields of aviation, customs, and others.

- On the afternoon of September 14, Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung received Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama, on the occasion of his trip to Vietnam. At the event, the Japanese PM confirmed he will do his best to contribute to Japan – Vietnam relation, and said that he believes the two countries’ ties will take further steps in the near future.

- The Director of the Aviation Department, Lai Xuan Thanh, has been assigned to create a team to research the establishment of a direct flight from Hanoi or Ho Chi Minh City through airspace over Laos and Cambodia.

Society:

- La Thi Linh, 29, died on September 14, increasing the death toll to ten, after 12 people were found unconscious in a karaoke room at Queen Club karaoke, in Hai Ha District in the northern province of Quang Ninh, at 3 pm on September 8.

- According to the National Center for Hydro-Meteorological Forecasting, Tropical Storm Kalmaegi entered the East Vietnam Sea’s eastern region overnight on September 14. The storm is expected to strengthen and will likely affect the north-eastern provinces.

- The parents of Do Thi Kim Ngan, who live in Di An town in the southern province of Binh Duong, admitted that they abused their 4-year-old child. On September 12, Ngan was hospitalized after her neighbors found her unconscious in her house with multiple injuries. The couple was arrested later that day.

Business:

- Hundreds of tons of fruits imported from China every day have been disguised as domestic and American goods with fake labels at some agricultural wholesale markets in Ho Chi Minh City.

- Dirty oil produced by Taiwanese Chang Guannn Group has been transported to 12 countries and territories, including Vietnam. The group has produced 782 tons of oils recycled from kitchen wastes and melted pig fat. Health experts from Taiwan warn that this kind of dirty oil could causes cancer in its users.

Education:

- The Vietnam Mathematical Society on September 14 organized a ceremony to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Vietnam Olympic participation at the International Mathematical Olympiad.

Lifestyle:

- Five Vietnamese filmmakers will attend the 19th Busan International Film Festival, to be held from October 2 to 11 at Haeundae-gu, Busan, South Korea.
