Ho Chi Minh City to teach fine art using Danish methods

Ho Chi Minh City to teach fine art using Danish methods

Tuesday, December 16, 2014, 12:08 GMT+7

The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Education and Training has recently issued a dispatch to guide elementary schools across the city to implement the Danish method of teaching fine art.

Accordingly, the method will be applied in the second semester of the 2014-2015 academic year.

In Vietnam, an academic year usually kicks off in late August or early September, and ends in late May or early June the following year.

The second semester of the year often starts around the traditional Tet (Vietnam's Lunar New Year) holiday, which usually falls in January or February.

According to the dispatch, teachers are responsible for researching the current fine art curricula and flexibly applying the Danish method to their teaching program.

Specifically, teachers will organize the lessons so that the ending of one lesson is the beginning of the next lesson; develop students’ ability to study mathematics, music, languages, etc. while learning fine art; create chances for students to learn practical lessons; and fulfill other tasks.

The city’s educational department has also instructed schools to take advantage of available materials for teaching like old newspapers, students’ unused notebook sheets, and appropriate waste.

Schools are also expected to conclude and report the results of the implementation of the new method to the Department of Education and Training by the end of this school year.
