Authorities in Hanoi are investigating a serious assault on a doctor at a local general hospital, who was knocked unconscious and had his head seriously injured by the family of his young patient.
Doctor L.Q.D. from the general hospital in Thach That District was brutally beaten by a family member of a child patient on Sunday, according to Tran Thi Nhi Ha, deputy director of the Hanoi health department, which is verifying the case.
Dr. D., who is the deputy head of the emergency department at the hospital, was explaining the condition of the kid, who was affected by rotavirus, and his potential hospital transfer when he suffered the sudden attack.
The child’s father then used a large, thick glass to hit D. several times on the head, causing him to bleed profusely before fainting.
Clinicians at the infirmary had to insert seven stitches to treat the doctor’s head injuries.
His condition had stabilized as of Monday morning, however he was still experiencing headaches and nausea.
“It is wrong for the man to attack the doctor,” Ha said, adding that the health department would investigate the incident in an objective manner and according to the law.
The attacker has been arrested by the authorities, while his ill son has been transferred to another hospital for further treatment.
This is the fourth serious assault on medical staff in Vietnam since the beginning of this year, according to the Ministry of Health.
