Cobras found slithering on bus

Traffic police in Hanoi’s Thanh Tri district on Tuesday found two cobras slithering from a bag and 35 kilograms of other live cobras in four jute bags in the cargo hold of a bus.

On the morning of July 17 traffic cops caught a bus registered in Yen Bai northern province with many bicycles on the roof, a violation of traffic laws, and had stopped it for inspection when they found the venomous snakes.

The police then asked passengers to urgently get out of the vehicle for their safety.

Local experts say the snakes were strong enough to puncture the bags and escape, putting the lives of passengers in danger.

The environmental police in Long Bien district are investigating the origin of the reptiles.

Previously, in mid-June, a bus en route to Nha Trang from Da Nang had to make an emergency stop after passengers found dozens of venomous snakes winding their way along the floor.
