Mid-Autumn Festival events for foreigners kick off

Friday, September 06, 2013, 14:30 GMT+7

A series of events, including making traditional Vietnamese mooncakes and lanterns, and donating to and organizing the Mid-Autumn festival for orphan children, was kicked off on September 3rd to celebrate the festival.

One event is called “Festival Night - Sharing Love”, which is being organized by Vietnamese Language Studies Saigon (VLS). It aims to bring new experiences to foreigners enjoying the Mid-Autumn festival in Vietnam.

During the lantern-making event, which will be held from September 4th until September 12th, participants will be asked to cover a bamboo frame in the shape of an animal or a star using colorful papers. They are also encouraged to decorate the lanterns using their own creations.

At 9AM on September 14th, there will be a workshop which will guide people on how to make a mooncake. All of the lanterns and mooncakes made by participants will be given to children at Tinh That Linh Son, an orphanage located in District 12.

The final event will be held on September 15th, in which all foreign participants are welcome to join a Mid-Autumn festival night organized for young orphans.
