Vietnam, Iran to foster all-round ties

At the fifth political consultation between visiting Vietnamese Deputy Foreign Minister Nguyen Phuong Nga and her Iranian counterpart, Seyyed Abbas Araghchi, the two sides agreed that the two countries would boost bilateral ties in various fields. The consultation was held when Nga paid a visit to Iran on April 13-14, as part of an agreement between the two countries’ foreign ministries. Besides the talk with Iranian Foreign Minister Araghchi, Nga paid a courtesy call to Iranian Foreign Minister Ali Akbar Salehi. She also met with Vice President of the Chamber of Commerce, Industries and Mines Seyed Mehdi Miraboutalebi, Deputy Minister of Commerce, Industries and Mines Massoud Movahedi, and head of the Iran-Vietnam Friendship Association Seyed Kamal Sajjadi.

During their meetings, the two sides highly valued developments in bilateral comprehensive ties including politics, diplomacy, agriculture, education and training over the past years. After praising Vietnam’s social and economic achievements as well as its improved position in the region and the world, Foreign Minister Salehi told Nga that Iran is willing to promote multifaceted cooperation and traditional friendship with Vietnam.

The two sides agreed to strengthen the exchange of all-level delegations, and improve links in economics, trade, agriculture, fishery, education, training and tourism. Nga and her Iranian officials also discussed preparations for the eighth meeting of the Vietnam – Iran Joint Committee, and agreed to step up negotiations for the signing of a double taxation avoidance agreement. In addition, the two sides agreed that they would coordinate in conducting activities to welcome the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations that were established on August 4, 1973.
